Expert Visit

Diplo is looking forward to welcoming Anne McNaughton (Director, ANU Centre for European Studies) to the University of mini传媒 next week.

Anne will deliver a public lecture at the Faculty of Law on听Monday August 7 from 1pm-2pm

Title:听Emerging from the Tunnel: Challenging the permeability of Silos

Abstract:听This presentation addresses the wicked problem of addressing societal issues that require not only an inter- but also a transdisciplinary approach. Many of society鈥檚 challenges today cross borders, requiring both international and domestic responses if we are to develop effective and satisfactory solutions. In this seminar, I explore the potential of the functional method in comparative law to transcend the constraints inherent in inter- and transdisciplinary work. The EU is an exemplar of this approach and a touchstone for broader transnational and inter-regional applications.
