HOW TO APPLY

What do you like most about UC?聽

One thing I really like is the support systems provided for students. When I arrived, I was scared; I didn鈥檛 know anyone. The international orientation helped me meet a lot of people 鈥 both Malaysians and other international friends. Everyone here is so welcoming and it made me feel much more at home.

Is there a specific support service you found to be particularly helpful?

In my final year, we had to use scientific form for our research paper, but not all students know how to do it, especially if it鈥檚 their first time. UC has a workshop where we can send our paperwork for them to check over and make sure we鈥檝e done it right. It鈥檚 really helpful, and it鈥檚 an important skill to have for my future career, too.

What are UC鈥檚 academic staff like?聽

They鈥檙e all very helpful. One of my supervisors is a lecturer and a PhD student, and they guided me from A to Z. They were always there and made sure I understood everything.

The lecturers also understand when students have big workloads, so they鈥檙e flexible with us. It really takes the pressure off and makes things less stressful.

What do you like about studying Physics at UC?聽

I love solving problems. I always think, 鈥榟ow does this thing work, how is it possible?鈥. Physics solves everything in life 鈥 every move, every motion is physics.

I love studying at UC because they have cutting-edge technologies that are ideal for scientific research and exploration. UC also provides a lot of variety in courses, so I was able to explore what focus I wanted to pursue.

What do you enjoy about living in Christchurch?聽

Life in Christchurch is delightful. I love the transportation, the beautiful murals. I love how mini传媒 the cultural activities are; it really widens my perspectives.

I also love how the city is so accessible; it鈥檚 only a 15-minute drive to the beach or to go hiking in the hills. It鈥檚 a perfect place to both relax and explore.

What do you get up to when you are not studying?聽

There are so many caf茅s in Christchurch, and I enjoy caf茅 hopping with my friends. The food here is amazing, especially in the caf茅s. I also love going to farmer鈥檚 markets, flea markets, and vintage markets.

How does your part-time job benefit you?

Working part-time provides me financial support and has also allowed me to build my time management skills. With support from lecturers and my coworkers, it鈥檚 been a great experience as a uni student to work and study. It鈥檚 really important to have those skills, to be able to balance two responsibilities at the same time.

Would you recommend UC to other international students?聽

I would wholeheartedly recommend it, without hesitation. It鈥檚 a positive learning environment, and it鈥檚 shaped my educational journey in a positive way. UC provides an ideal pathway for everyone, for both academic and personal growth. I鈥檓 very confident to endorse UC for others that are seeking this experience.
